As a tennis instructor I am surrounded by many players who are very physically fit and who love to play the game. Of course, over time injuries start popping up!
I am amazed at how positive and organized my students are as they recover from their injuries. The first thing I hear is "John please hold my lesson time for me when I recover." Already, they are picturing themselves recovering and returning to the game they love - tennis!
I am completely inspired by my students. I used to get up and think about anything that hurt or things that were wrong with me. Now, I get up and work or power through my problems. Now I see injuries as short-term problems. Staying positive is so important.
The injuries can be as simple as a muscle pull or as complex as open-heart surgery, cancer, joint replacement or M.S. Just don't feel sorry for yourself! Get on with it! You can be an inspiration for yourself and all those around you! Remember, slow and steady wins the race!
Good luck on the courts!
