You can see how pickleball is growing. It is in its infancy stages. What can slow down its growth? Right now, I donÕt see a way to rate or place players in the correct competitive level. Of course, itÕs fun. However, every sport will get into its competitive stages. The days of just showing up and playing a match then placing a paddle on a pile and going back on the court are numbered. No one likes to "kill" someone every time or to get "killed" every time. That is the problem. Plus, the time off and on the court can be terrible.
When you get partnered with a terrible player and you get avoided for the entire match, this is not fun!
Thus, enter tennis. They have already gone through these problems and have come out "smelling like a rose." Tennis has a way to rate players: age groups, leagues, N.T.R.P (National Tennis Rating Program), UTR for example, universal tennis rating. Tennis pros can help you attain a rating. This helps the lopsided matches and allows all players to have fun and be competitive. In a correct tennis match a players can play a set with each player. The fitness level is better and all sets are competitive.
For this reason Š Give me tennis!!!!
Good luck on the courts!
