Tournament-sensation John Isner narrowly
defeated
the smallish lefty Wayne Odesnik, 21, in three sets, all of them settled
by
tiebreakers. Odesnik was by far the fresher in the third set, where Isner
offered
little resistance in Odesnik's serving games. But Isner again showed his
strong mental powers, summoning his remaining strength to continue
delivering
service bombs. He closed out the match with two untouched service aces.
