When you are getting ready to go out on the town, you probably plan in advance what you are going to wear. Once you chose your basic outfit, you must choose your accessories (make-up, jewelry, shoes, etc).
In tennis, this should be true as well. When you show up for a match, you know you have been practicing your serve, forehand, backhand and volleys (your basics). Once you have started to master the basics, you must go on to accessorize your game. As players start to equalize their basics, quite often, the accessories will decide the difference in their game. As your accessorize your tennis game you might want to add these to your game:
- Add spin to your serve.
- Learn to hit a drop shot, half volley, angle volley and overhead.
- Learn to hit angle overheads.
- Learn how to "loop" your groundstrokes.
- Learn to play offensive, (serve and volley, chip and charge).
These are just a few ideas for you to accessorize your game. Remember, adding these accessories make the game more fun and exciting. If just might be the difference between a "ho-hum" look or performance and a "knock-out" look or performance.
See you on the courts!
