Serve and Volley with Success

Serve and Volley with Success when you:

Get your 1st serve in!
Take your time! Don't try to get in too far - too fast.
STOP! Split step before reaching the service line or just as the returner is ready to make contact with the ball.
Think 1st volley "in play" (not "put away")! Only when the return is high do you have permission to think "winner".
Low, you go! Move in further behind a good offensive volley (low, angled, deep, etc.). Don't move in if you hit a short high ball.

John Mills' experience includes four years as head pro at the Windemere Racquet & Swim Club, where he was responsible for organization of all tennis activities at the club. John also played college tennis at the University of Houston and has spent 20 years teaching tennis at the Memorial Park Tennis Center, the Pasadena Racquet Club, and as the head pro at the Bay Area Racquet Club.
