Top Ten Reasons for being a Clueless Tennis Player
John Mills, USPTA |
Talking during the point and talking too much between points during non-social matches.
Never offering to open new balls to play the match.
Showing up late all the time.
Failing to reciprocate after an invitation to play another club, etc.
Coaching your partner during a match when they have not asked for help
Pointing out the negatives rather than the positives in your partner.
Failing to be flexible as to which side (ad or deuce) you are to play in doubles.
Letting technology destroy your concentration. We now live in a society where almost everyone owns a cell phone, jets fly right on top of us, etc. Get used to it!
Failing to nurture beginners or players lesser than you in ability. Remember, someone was there for you when you were a beginner.
Failing to know and practice good court etiquette (how and when to return a ball from an adjacent court, how and when to enter a gate while entering or exiting a court, when to call a let, calling out the score, how to handle close calls, etc.) and failing to know the rules of the game.
Good luck on the court!
