You are approaching the net wishing to make an offensive volley. About half way to the net, you realize that it will not be possible to volley the approaching ball. The ball is going to bounce close to your feet, thus forcing you to hit a half volley. Here are several tips to make hitting a half volley easier. Imagine the spot where the ball it going to land. Then, as if playing golf, imagine the ball being on a Tee. Have your racket waiting right behind the Tee and push the ball with the racket as you move forward. This tip will correct the most common mistakes made when hitting a half volley:
- Too much backswing
- Too much follow through
- Not having the racket head low when the ball lands
- Stopping when you make contact with the ball.
