Frustrating Shots You Hate to Get
John Mills, USPTA |
Remember the shots that frustrate you in a match? These same shots will also frustrate your opponent. A few of these irritating shots or tactics include:
- A deep ball hit wide to your forehand followed by a short angle ball to your backhand.
- An offensive lob hit over your backhand when you are at the net.
- A loopy topspin ball landing at three quarter depth, bouncing high to your backhand when you are on the baseline.
- A ball hit soft and landing low toward your feet as you are approaching the net.
- An approach shot hit with under spin to your backhand, which skips and slides off the court (forcing you to bend down low and hit up on the passing shot).
- A high bouncing serve hit deep to your backhand.
- A ball hit back and behind you, forcing you to make a quick change of direction.
Now, when playing your next match, take a note of the frustrating shots you hate. Turn the table on your opponent. Make sure when your opponent leaves the court that he or she also hates these shots or tactics. If you do not already have some of these in your shot selection, you should work on developing some frustrating shots of your own.
