I know of successful 'bump' ladders with 100 players; there are several
different ways to enter new players. A good player may not want to start at
the bottom of an existing ladder, but you can use procedures to start him or
her at the 'right' level.
Even if there is a big difference in level between the top and the bottom,
it doesn't matter, since the scheduling functions are such (in my case) that
matches are scheduled between players in generally the same area of the
ladder.
