Re: high school tennis drills
Hi Staci,
There are so many 10s drills that you get overwhelmed. The kid's
favorite is "Queen of the Court" that you probably already know, They also
like "The Wall" in which you have two girls in volley position at the net.
The rest of the girls form two lines on the baseline the other side. Coach
feeds the ball to the baseline and the front two girls try to pass the girls
at the net (Lobs are not allowed). After each one hits the ball, they move
to the back of the line. If the "wall" misses two (or one, or three)
volleys, they run to the other side of the court while the front two girls on
the baseline run around to the other side of the net. Coach feeds the ball
to the baseline early so the girls next in line have to stay on their toes.
The girls running to the volley position on the net have to hustle too or the
ball gets there before they do... Its lots of fun, very active and it works
on both the volley and the groundies. Coach can stop the action at any time
to critique strokes.
