Re: String Tension vs/ power
This subject was discussed at length in a monthly USRSA publication of two
or three years ago. The jist was: The tighter the string bed stiffness
(higher strung reference tension) the more compression occurs to the ball,
everthing else being equal. The ball absorbs more energy the higher the
compression. Therefore, there is less energy to return to the ball, so its
leaving velocity is lower - less power.
You may want to visit the United States Racquet Stringers
Association web site at http://usrsa.com/ , or find a local stringer that is
a member of the USRSA and ask him if has that issue you could read.
