[tennisbiz] Re: social tennis events
Atul Gurjar asked about fun activities for a social tennis function. Here
are some ideas:
Depending on the skill levels, how about a "7.0 tournament" where the
combined skill level of the doubles teams cannot exceed (or must total) 7.0
(e.g., one 3.0 playing with a 4.0)?
Consider a "Gimmie" tournament where the lowest skill levels get one "Gimmie"
(free point) per game.
Use your computer to make some certificates. Include joke awards such as
"Most swings in returning an Overhead," or "Best return of serve when serve
is out." But also include "Best dressed," "Most Classic Strokes."
Be careful of introducing handicaps that could cause injuries (e.g.,
non-tennis shoes could cause pulled muscles, unusual rackets could cause
tennis elbow, and tying partners together could result in falls)
If guests are bringing snacks, have a contest for best snack.
Have door prizes such as "half a lesson" (half hour group lesson) with the
pro (this generates follow-on business).
