[tennisbiz] Re: Tax Deductions
Wilson Pipkin asks about Tax deductions. Here are some of my ideas.
Professional Education. You can deduct expenses for travel, tuition, and
books on courses related to improving your professional quals (e.g., USPTA
and USPTR certifications, symposiums, clinics, etc.)
Professional Books. You can deduct the cost of manuals and other
publications required to do your job (Teaching, coaching, etc.). These
include documents related to First Aid as well as stroke production.
Special tools and equipment. You can deduct the cost of things like "tennis
trainers," fitness ladders, on-court targets, jump ropes, etc.
Charitable expenses. If you volunteer your time to a qualified organization,
you can deduct travel to and from their activities. If you donate (your
own...) used rackets or tennis balls to schools or other qualified agencies,
you can deduct the fair market value of the items donated. In this latter
case, you will have to certify the items' original cost to you.
