[tennisbiz] Re: Marketing professional doubles

It is all pretty simple. If famous people play doubles people will
watch. When McEnroe and Graf played mixed doubles (the most
ignored event of all tennis) the stadium was packed. When the
Williams sisters play doubles, they have to turn people away.

The answer to the problem is to find a way for players to be
encouraged to play doubles.

Some suggestions?

Decrease prize money for singles and add it for doubles.

Have a combined doubles and singles ranking rather than two
separate rankings.

Make both doubles and singles matches shorter so that both can
be played without exhausting the players.
