I would say go ahead and teach her the slice backhand and to hit the serve
with some spin. We all struggle at first, I just tell my students to keep
practicing and they will get it, and they all do. You know her game pretty
well, just use your best judgement if she is ready to try those things, or
if she needs more time to learn the basics she is working on now.
