<x-charset iso-8859-1>Rebecca,
We run into the same problem on occasion. You can divide the ages into
groups and still do the same basic progressions as you would do for same age
groups.
If these are beginners, you will have no problem guiding them through the
progressions.
If you have some of the students who are advanced, again you can pair them
up and help them to progress at their own speed dividing your time between
courts. Another way we handle a situation where a student is more advanced
is to include them as helpers or instructors. You can use them in
demonstrations, etc.
The main thing is to keep control of your group with an organized lesson
plan. The USPTA has "Little Tennis" on their web site @ WWW.uspta.org that
offers some good lesson plans and the USTA has some excellent information on
large group teaching. You can contact the USA Tennis 1-2-3 person in your
USTA section for more information.
