[tennisbiz] Re: Sponsorship and sales
<x-charset iso-8859-1>Dear Jose,
I believe that you are looking for "Creative Tennis Programming" by Greg
Grover, uspta. You can reach him at windwardlake_at_mindspring.com for more
information on his notebook. It is a great guide to running fun events.
Your question about sponsorship of pro's and equipment sales is a good one.
Here in the States, I don't know of any company that requires a number of
sales be generated to be on the advisory staffs or free lists of those
companies.
It is evident that the amount of business a pro can generate is directly
related to the amount of goods that pro does receive. This is only fair in
my estimation unless the pro is in a position to influence the sales of
product as a player ie, Jennifer Capriati with Prince and Andre Agassi /
Gustavo Kuertan with Head, etc.
I own a pro shop and generate sales in not only rackets, but strings,
accessories, clothing, and shoes. So I have a pretty good set up with one
of the major manufacturers as far as ad staff is concerned. It certainly
wouldn't be on my playing ability.
Ron Woods, uspta
