[tennisbiz] Re: Loop Swing vs. Straight Back Swing for Groundstrokes
Alan,
I like teaching the loop swing for just the timing aspects alone. I
believe young players need to get into the rhythm of the groundstroke.
The loop also places emphasis on foot work and balance. A person just
starting out, places a great deal of emphasis on the preparation of the
stroke. I have found that in the straight back approach, it has a
tendency to take the person out of balance and the concentration on the
ball is lost.
Finally, I like the player to be moving forward finishing the stroke and
with the loop you have that momentum coming out of the shot.
