Hi

I am a Michigan Girls and Boys Tennis High School Coach. We have Girls
Tennis in the fall and Boys in the spring.
BUT, we have a law suit against having different seasons. The law suit
wants us to move both to one season.
This makes NO sense! Move a boys team (30 players) and a girls team (49
players) to play matches and practice on the 8
high school courts. The law suit was started because parents of a
volleyball player (winter season in MI) did not get a
college scholarship because they compete during the winter (the parents
believe). They will probably move them to the
spring season. In Michigan, the weather is a major problem in the spring.
Most of March we try and find gym times and set
up a make shift net. Many schools do not have enough interested coaches to
run 4 teams (B & G V & JV). The number of
players per court would be terrible. This should reduce the number of
players wanting to play tennis in Michigan!
