[tennisbiz] Re: Har Tru Courts
Bob,
Pertaining to har-tru courts, I have gone several times to the
Har-Tru Maintenance school down in Hilton Head, SC and also in
Charlottesville, VA and definitely, using a normal court brush after
each use on the courts will prematurely dry the courts out. Putting
down calcium periodically will aid in water retention and give the
courts that dark green appearance, but you have to be careful with
that stuff. In many clubs in central Europe, where the practice of
sweeping the courts after each play is routine (or used to be when I
lived there), they use variations of the "Aussie Sweep", a rubber
type sweeper that smoothes out the courts without drying out the
courts. When I was in Virgina, we used the Aussie Sweep for the
mid-day watering and sweeping and the regular brush and or roller
during the mornings and the brush in the evenings. I am sure the
maintenance school down in Hilton Head has a web site.
