I think a leading cause of tennis elbow is the mistake of "leading with
the elbow"on the backhand, rather than keeping the elbow tucked into the
body. This causes the forearm to be snapped through by the tendon
holding the forearm to the elbow.
Try pointing your elbow toward the target and hitting; you should feel
the tennsion on the tendon.
There is a rarer forehand tennis elbow caused by hitting with a straight
arm, rather than bending the elbow.
