[tennisbiz] tennis court resurfacing/rebuilding

Questions re: refurbishing older asphalt courts (outdoors) for the
mid-Atlantic region.

How long should an asphalt court last? Indefinitely? One contractor says 30
years is about tops before asphalt starts to crumble.

All contractors have told me that cracks just reappear within weeks to
months; the only way to make them disappear is to install a "slip surface" --
basically a new layer of gravel or "rubberized asphalt."

How effective are so-called "soft asphalt" courts at reducing knee injuries?
Is that just marketing? How much better is Har-Tru?
