I think the one-handed backhand requires one more step as
opposed to "less footwork step" since it is always hit with
a close stance (right foot stepping in for a right hander)
unless you're pulled wide. The two-hand on the other hand
can be hit with an open stance on a regular basis (like the
Williams sisters) eliminating that extra step giving a
player more time to recover to the center of the court.
Right now I'm trying to practice on returning serve with a
two handed backhand and do groundstrokes with slice and
one hand topspin backhand. Anything for variety, hope it
works.
