After watching the Seles - Hingis match today, I am more than ever
convinced that service actions interrupted by a bad ball toss should be
counted as a fault. Seles must have done this no less than a dozen times
in the space of a one hour match.
That's ridiculous: if the Rafters, Kuceras and Seles of this world, who
practise their serves day in day out, can't even control a simple ball
toss (and lets not forget that the service is all the only shot in
tennis where the player has 100% control), then they should be penalised
accordingly, just like a foot fault.
At that level, most bad ball tosses are due to nerves but that's all
part of the game.
The ITF should seriously consider altering the rules.
Agree or disagree?
All the best to all
