[tennisbiz] Re: How to register my logo ?
<x-charset iso-8859-1>To learn how to register or trademark in the U.S., go to www.uspto.gov.
[Note added by moderator: In the United States, something that you
create, such as a logo, is immediately copyrighted from the moment
you create it. You can register the copyright, which provides you
additional protections, including your ability to collect certain
types of damages in the event someone infringes on your copyright.
Registering a copyright is inexpensive and easy.
If you use the logo as a trademark or service mark, then under U.S.
law, it also gains immediate protection once it is used in such a
manner. Registering a trademark or service mark with the government
also provides significant additional protections. This is more
expensive and complicated than registering a copyright--I've always
used a lawyer to perform trademark registrations.
Patents are the most complicated of all, but don't apply to this
example.
