[tennisbiz] Re: Serve & Volley Tennis
The reason we see fewer serve & volley tennis is the new space age
equipment. The new racquets allow every one to swing hard and fast and
teaching pros have clients willing to pay lots of dollars to hit like
the pros. Unfortunately we are starting to see more wrist and elbow
tendonitis problems with these semi-western grip bangers.
Teaching pros should be teaching serve & volley as Newton's third law,
"To every action, there is an opposite and equal reaction." Serve &
Volley is the tactic to counter the baseline boomer.
Teaching racquet control is the key to success, by teaching soft hands
and volleys that penetrate the side lines with acute angles. It is "Old
School" tennis, McEnroe vs. Borg, Edberg vs. young Agassi, and now El
Aynaoui vs. Hewitt.
Just a thought,
