[tennisbiz] Junior Development is not about etiquette
One of the recent post writes that for more
junior development the juniors need to learn about
etiquette from the beginning, and the post goes on to
suggest that only those juniors with lots of coaching
can be good players.
That elitist untruth. It is a morbid philosophy
pushed to make one think only those who have extensive
coaching should be allowed into the club. and keep out
the rif raff. American tennis needs to reach to the
people, not do its best to exclude the people.
This tendency of putting people down who don't have
white collared shirts, and big bucks to pay frequent
coaching when they play tennis is just the things that
keeps tennis unpopular. It makes most kids think that
tennis is a girl's sport for sissies. Most people
want fun and competition when they play, not to be Ms.
Manners best buddy.
