[tennisbiz] Re: Coaching beginning adults
<x-charset iso-8859-1>Christine,
If you have The Tennis Channel in your area, we have just produced 15
30-minute shows of creative drills and exercises. Look for the shows with my
name attached to them to save time sifting through all the material.
In addition, the main things, if I may be so bold to suggest some teaching
ideas, is to:
1. keep their success-to-failure ratio at over 50%.
2. make sure they have a smile on their faces when they leave.
3. make sure they make friends.
4. try simple goal setting so you will assure they will increase their
self-confidence, a key to getting them to keep playing.
With those four things in place, you are practically guaranteed success. It
is all common sense, but few tennis teachers do them consistently and do
them well. They are not as easy as they might sound. Let me know if I can do
more. I just love helping beginners develop a passion for this great sport
of ours.
