[tennisbiz] Re: Request for suggestions about ball hoppers
Paul, My suggestion would be for someone to design a hopper that doesn't
fall apart within a couple of months. I've purchased all brands of hoppers and
none of them are worth the money they cost. The newer "improved" gold models
from Gamma are totally worthless, the middle bars bend easily and balls fall
out. The silver ones welding either breaks loose or wears out on the bottom.
We have had our re-welded so often there's nothing left to weld. We tried the
new $75.00 roller stand up models from Wilson, they were destroyed within
weeks of use ... kids are hard on hoppers, no matter how closely they are watched.
I've decided the ball mower from Gamma combined with "Tennis Tubes" are the
most durable types of ball picker uppers. The kids like the tubes, they pick
up 20 balls each time, they are cheap to buy so you can afford to have 4 tubes
to replace 1 hopper and best of all they are indestructible! I bought my
tubes from Rocky Mountain Sports, but several vendors carry them. Thanks, Pat
