[tennisbiz] Re: Proven ladder rules
We have a Junior Tennis Ladder that seems to be working well. Instead
of having a computer-generate list of names on paper, we wrote each
name on a label holder that has a magnetic backing. We then stick each
one, by age and ladder-ranking, to a metal door in the Junior Corner of
the tennis facility. The door's covered with bright yellow and dark
purple papers so it draws the eye immediately. Other activities, just
for juniors, are right there for them to see: match schedules,
birthdays, and tennis quizzes for prizes. I think the brightness of the
area, along with the visibility of their names, and the readiness with
which their rankings are changes -- if they move up or down -- gives
them some instant gratification of their choice to challenge another
player. The whole Just for Junior's corner, too, bestows on them an
importance because, basically, they are very important to us.
I hope this can help you.
