[tennisbiz] Re: Question about the TennisConnect service - is it any good?
There is no doubt that services like tennisconnect.org provide many
high-powered web features for a reasonable cost. However, these sites offer
only a cookie-cutter solution for your important web presence. Except for
different color, cosmetic touches, etc., your site will look and operate
much the same way as any other competing club that uses these mass-produced
Internet solutions. Also, you have the inconvenience of doing the work
yourself.
Additionally, some services force you to run their advertising and do not
allow you to sell your own advertising. While the service is relatively
cheap, you lose the ability to increase your income and support your
sponsors.
There are many graphic design professionals who concentrate on understanding
and serving the tennis community - including my firm. Find a web designer to
build a unique web site for your club that doesn't look or work like the
site of the club across town. The Internet is much too valuable of a
marketing and communication tool to use a faceless web service.
