[tennisbiz] Re: Question about 2-handed forehand
Two handed forehands are common with kids that age.
Usually they give them up in order to extend their
reach.
It is not hard to change when they get older. What
they do is just remove the left hand and keep their
right hand higher on the racket like it was with the
two-hander. Then gradually slide it down.
Another alternative is to switch the two handed to a
two handed "crossover" where the right hand is on the
bottom and the left on top. Eventually, he will just
remove the left hand.
The good thing about a two handed forehand when they
are young is that it trains them to get a good
shoulder turn and hip rotation. That stays with them
even when the two hander evolves into a one hander.
