[tennisbiz] Development Systems
Hey All,
Can any of you recommend references that detail what children should learn
at particular times during their development process? I'm looking to adopt,
modify or create a system of development that gives guidance on what children
should be learning from the beginning to the intermediate levels of play. Of
course there are many variable to consider, but I'm looking for as scientific
of an approach as I can get. I'd modify it as needed.
Here's my motivation:
I run programs at numerous facilities. One of my biggest issues is finding
good instructors who can provide children with a rewarding experience and not
have to be very experienced. I'd like to be able to give instructors a
guideline that highlights:
- What types of games and drills that are appropriate
- What information should they be exposed to (lines on the court, mental
toughness
concepts, ...)
- What strategies and tactics should they know
- ...
I've seen lots of programs in practice and have developed pieces of a
system, but not a complete one. I view this primarily as an instructor training
tool.
Thanks for your help,
