[tennisbiz] Re: Tennis League Setup
Janet,
Think of a league as a one day round robin event. You need to decide:
1. Men, women, singles, doubles or mixed
2. Format and length
3. Time and dates
4. Cost
5. Then just sign up the players
Then you will also need a "substitute list" if you want it to run most
smoothly and successfully. These will be people who cannot commit to the
whole league but can substitute from time to time. Make sure you are very
clear that those who sign up for the league have to get a substitute if they
cannot make it and notify you (the director). This will help minimize
no-shows and defaults which is not fun for the participants.
To run the league you need a round robin rotation book or software. There
are several on the market. Check out our website for a few choices. An
example if "Winning Rotations" which contains all the rotations you will
probably ever need (singes, doubles, fixed partners, and rotating partners,
plus event ideas) plus ready-to-copy sign-up and score sheets and tips for
using each rotation ($49.95).
Good luck.
