That's an interesting twist on the local ratings. Here in Indianapolis, we
have one pro who rates his club players down, where they always seem to be
able to win their leagues. These teams go on to regional competition, and
it's not unusual for them to be disqualified for being rated too low. It has
skewed everyone's rating around here. For example, I'm a 3.5, but on
vacation I beat 4.0 and 4.5 players from Georgia and Florida. They say
beginners are 3.5's there! Do you have "benchmark" players, who are used
to make changes in other people's ratings??
