Concerning the problem of a player improving during the season (although the
example given was of someone who improved between their rating verification
and the end of the season, a time period of at least 6 months), first, the
divisions are (for example) "2.5" and below, not "Started at 2.5 but am now a
3.0" or even above that.
Secondly, it state very specifically in the "2000 League Regulations" that
"players who...intend to spend a great deal of time practicing and taking
lessons should be aware that their improvement may ... surpass their original
verification category. To aviod disqualification these players should play
at a higher level." Reading and understanding the rules would have saved
your players from their situattion.
