[tennisbiz] Re: Marketing Web Site
<x-flowed>Hi Kim,
E-mail advertising to a targeted tennis audience is
indeed the online advertising venue that is most likely
to bring you good results. It would probably prove more
productive than banner advertising, although you might
experiment a bit with both and then compare your results.
There are two list advertising opportunities that we
offer in conjunction with The Tennis Server. The first
opportunity involves sponsorship of this TennisBiz
discussion forum. This opportunity is probably best
for someone that is specifically trying to reach tennis
pros and others in the tennis business. It is probably
not the right venue for someone trying to reach general
tennis consumers.
The second opportunity we offer allows you to send a
message out to the subscribers of our Tennis Server
INTERACTIVE e-mail newsletter. We presently have 35,140
subscribers on that list, all of whom have asked to
subscribe. We offer the opportunity for an advertiser to
send a dedicated mailing out to the list at a cost that
is far less than even the cost of the postage stamp that
would be required to send the same group of people a
mailing by surface mail. The message can be up to 20,000
characters in length.
Our experience over the past 6 years online is that
those offering a wide spectrum of tennis products at
competitive prices can do well by advertising through
this forum. Results have not been as good for those
offering to sell single, low cost, specialty or niche
items.
Given the nature of your business, one approach that
might prove fruitful to you would be to do a mailing
in early December targeted towards providing list
subscribers a variety of options and ideas for
holiday gifts. Carol Gerard, who is the person
on our end that coordinates our list sponsorships,
can be reached at carol_at_tennisserver.com .
If you are doing things with your web site that might
be considered newsworthy, we can also help you plan
and implement a campaign to make the media aware of
your site and business. Tennis Server's parent company,
The Tenagra Corporation, creates and executes several
online publicity campaigns each month for various web
sites.
