Scott is correct about the previous teaching philosophy on volleys and the 
fact that many players (including pros) are now swinging through this stroke. 
 But then a lot of things are modernizing--look at the two-handed backhand 
and the open hitting stance. 
In February, one of the lessons I took from Vandermeer's staff at Hilton Head 
Island, included a technique of "running through the volley."  The tactic is 
very effective if you practice it enough and master it.  But if you don't hit 
an outright winner, you are usually out of position to hit the return. 
There may be another USPTR pro in your area who owns that shot.  The roster 
will id how to contact them.  You could also go to the annual USPTR symposium 
in February 02 at HHI if you wanted to wait that long.
