[tennisbiz] High school tennis seasons

I'm up here is Massachusetts most schools have both boy's and girls
tennis in the Spring. One team plays at home while the other team
travels. However I do seem to recall a few programs playing in the Fall
as well.

The unfortunate part about both teams playing during one season is the
pressure it places on the courts. Our courts are full all the time.
Students are hanging around waiting to practice and not getting a chance
to get their studies completed.

I've a;ways been of the mind set to have two separate seasons. It would
allow high schools to get more players involved as more courts would be
available. One of the crazy reasons the State gives for both teams in
one season is that the Fall is the busiest sports season and adding
tennis would create problems with busses and travel etc. Each player in
our town pays $100 as an athletic fee to cover busses so the above
argument does not hold much water.

I'll check with a few of the other New England states to see what they
do and get back to you if I find anything interesting.
