        Our Club (Clontarf in Ireland) runs a successful round robin
tournament for ladies and men. There are 4 round robins - singles and
doubles for both ladies and men. There are 5 players in each ladies singles
section - so they play 4 matches each calendar month of 15 games. At the end
of the month the top 2 go up 1 section and the bottom 2 drop 1 section. It
is up to the players to arrange the matches themselves. The mens singles
have 4 players in a section - 2 go up and 2 go down. They play from the
middle of one month to the middle of the next. This is to avoid bottlenecks
at the end of the month as players inevitably leave their matches to the
last few days !

        There are 3 pairs in both doubles round robins - 1 pair goes up, 1
pair stays and 1 pair go down.

        The round robin are good for getting to know the standard of all the
players and also for allowing new members to get to play and meet other
members quite easily.
