[tennisbiz] Re: General Liability Insurance for tennis facilities
<x-charset iso-8859-1>Pat,
You may check with insurance agencies in your area for liability insurance
to cover you, but it is my understanding that most players are at some
assumed risk when playing any sport requiring movement etc. Usually the
only way one would be sued would be in the case of negligence of duties in
court maintenance etc, but you do need to be insured and your insurance
agent can answer that question for you.
As far as on court instruction is concerned, you should be aware that all
certified USPTA Professionals are insured with a $4,000,000 on court
liability policy.
So I would highly recommend that any employer of a teaching professional
require them be a certified member of the USPTA not only for insurance
purposes , but as a minimal requirement of competency. I would think that
any person teaching tennis would want this certification to show they have a
working knowledge in their field of endeavor just like a doctor, lawyer,
real estate agent, insurance broker, etc.
