[tennisbiz] Syndicate Sponsorship of young players
Dear Tennis People,
I have a 16 yr old daughter who shows promise, yet I do not have the
necessary resources to have her travel with a personal coach to the junior
ITF events . Without the necessary ITF points she will find it hard to play
in the $10,000 tournaments to start on her upward journey to the pro ranks.
Does anyone have the knowlege of how 'sponsorship' syndicates are put
together?
I know that Tommy Haas's father formed Tommy Haas Inc. and got 20 investors
to provide $50,000 each for Tommy's years at Bollitieri's. Marat Safin was
sponsored by a Bank and went to Spain.
Does anyone know the forumla that appeals to investors?
By providing expense money for a few years what do they expect in return? Is
it a percentage of prize money over the life of the athlete? Is is 25% of
earnings for the first 5 years?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Surely all those playing the junior
world circuit are not from independently wealthy parents?
Thanks for your input.
