[tennisbiz] Re: Looking for a Serving Toss Drill
One possible problem could be that the server is "Ramping" the ball off his
fingers. This occurs when the ball is held in the palm close to the heel of
the hand. During the toss, the ball rolls up the ramp of the fingers.
Nerves, tired muscles, or reflexes can cause the fingers to add a variable
flick to the ball as it goes off the hand.
A suggestion attributed to the pro at Fairfax Racket Club (VA) is to hold two
tennis balls in your tossing hand. Remove the one closest to your wrist.
The remaining ball is in a better position for the toss.
