[tennisbiz] Re: Weight training and the serve
<x-charset iso-8859-1>When we speak of improving power and speed on our serve, current wisdom
tells us we need to change our "dynamic stereotype" or in plain English,
raise the plateau on which we appear stuck. Tennis experts defer to
overspeed training in other sports to find the solution. For tennis it
converts to a training exercise like this.
Serve 5 regular balls.
Throw 5 "throwing" medicine balls.
Serve 5 regular tennis balls again.
Then again throw 5 "throwing" medicine balls.
When throwing the medicine balls, remember to throw up and out. In other
words with a fairly high arc over the net, going for distance and power.
For throwing medicine balls, try a 16-ounce ball. This ball is not
expensive, will last for years, AND bounces
like a super ball making it fun and easy to convert these types of exercises
into games for 2 or more players.
