[tennisbiz] Re: Line calls and pressure
<x-charset iso-8859-1>As a sports psychology consultant, I have heard this complaint many times
from parents, coaches and players themselves. I believe that there is a
general lack of training in the area of "sportsmenship". The old saying, "if
in doubt, call it out", seems to be the norm. Many players who "believe"
they have received a bad call, apply a standard of "they cheated me on this
one, I will do the same on the next one". Until there is greater effort made
on teaching ethical behavior and good sportsmenship along with greater
rewards for it ( sportsmenship awards) etc, I don't see the trend changing
too much.
