[tennisbiz] Re: Questions for tennis league coordinators
Greetings Paul,
I have tried a variety of methods to attract youth into our tennis program
including flyers to schools, direct mail to families who have participated
in other recreation programs, free clinics and festivals, and we email
current players and parents encouraging participation.
The most rewarding contacts have been the local varsity and JV coaches. We
contact them via telephone messages, fax and in some cases, email.

The volunteer junior instructor program features job training for youth
interested in active learning on being a tennis coach. The program has
featured around 8-12 registrants per summer session over the past three
years.
While there has been moderate success with the transition from volunteer to
paid staff member, we have observed that the junior instructors have a
vested interest in word of mouth promotions to their school peers -- nothing
better than personal testimonial!
