[tennisbiz] Dealing with competitive pressures
I was wondering if any of you have come across this situation and what you
have done. I have an 11 year old competitive student. He is on a team where
there is lots of pressure to win. Although he has the skills that go far beyond
the other kids on his team, he prefers to play on a lower team. Maybe to be
the "star" player, maybe to have less pressure, maybe and mostly a confidence
issue. My intention for him is to be sure that he continue to improve and
enjoy the game. But I also want him to stay on track.... and eventually be
able to compete on his level in a positive way. I am thinking he needs a sports
psych boost. Any thoughts? Thanks, Carol
