[tennisbiz2] Re: Serving Problem
Hi Larry,
A slice serve will not cause injury if it is done properly. Pete Sampras
used his brilliant slice serve throughout his career without causing himself
any notable injury.
If your student is reaching too high, or too far to the right or left, he
could be straining a muscle.
I suggest you keep an eye on his technique and watch out for overstretching.
I learned this from Brad Langevad, one of the world's top Biomechanical
coaches. He had a website at www.bradlangevad.com and at
www.sportsbiometrics.com
The site gave a Masterclass in the slice tennis serve and all other strokes
with mpegs of the correct technique as well as precise instruction. I have
checked both addresses today and they seem to be down, but perhaps they may
be back again soon. Has anybody heard from Brad lately?
In the meantime get your student to rest his arm and shoulder for a few days
to heal any minor tears in his muscles.
Good luck and regards
