[tennisbiz] Re: Challenge Matches
Alan, I am a volunteer head coach at a high school in SC. Our
league requires us to use a round-robin format to establish an
initial ladder. We simply play one set and the team tends to
naturally gravitate to either the high end or low end of the
ladder. It is not necessary for everyone to play everyone but
you could if time permits. After the ladder is set the kids may
challenge one position up with the HS scoring format. At some
point the coach may end challenges and go with the established
line-up. I keep all players who come out for the team who work
hard and have a real interest in improving - and really
encouraging / promoting tennis. The only players I have let go
were kids who were avoiding football weightlifting by playing a
spring sport! Interestingly, some of my best players are also
football players! Have fun with the team and it is nice of you to
coach.
